Agreed with whole premise.

One part is missing, if I may… without too much patronizing: music has to be appreciated between peers. Gathering for guitar sesh, even if I couldn’t pay to save my life, was a big thing, all the cool people played or sang, even in nerdy crowds. This formed appreciation for *music* itself outside the business that packages and sells it to us.

Old geezer music has quality but yeah, it has to go into shadows and let new music shine. Making conscious attempts to weave new music into one’s life is a great way to stay alive. When music becomes just nostalgic tripping, it’s not art in its whole force.

Was flying long distance and listening to Eilish 2024 album, and several songs just break you apart, feels soooo fresh. I hope she and all others make a lot of that, music that can be played and sung to each other. Not just as a business.
