love how you explored the side to digital nomadism we don't often hear talked about (loneliness, unstable income, and a lack of insurance + pension)!

remote work seems like a walk in the park – or perhaps, on the beach – on paper... but i agree that many people will find themselves craving a sense of familiarity and security.

By 2027, 50% of the developed world’s workforce will be gig economy, resulting in a more decentralized and democratized employment paradigm. These changes have been largely catalysed by evolving automation, corporate stakeholder pressures to reduce costs and the need to de-risk balance sheets coupled with an avalanche of innovative advances in digital technologies that fueled a growing desire for workers to be the sole architects of their work-life balance.

Despite the consequential risks associated with the gig economy -– job security, income volatility, loss of paid holidays, and corporate pension/health care contributions- – it is growing three times faster than the traditional workforce. It is expected to number 80 million people in the US and 400+ million worldwide by the end of 2024 (World Bank). But it’s not just the benefits youth are losing; it’s the consequent risk they take on, having not been trained for the ensuing level of hustle needed to survive, let alone thrive, in the new employment ecosystem.
